Air passenger rights

Your rights
as a passenger

European Union regulations guarantee uniform rights to all passengers departing from an EU airport or travelling with an EU airline.

The key points in brief

As an air carrier registered in the European Union, BASe Airlines Zrt. is subject to Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 and Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006. The summary below is for information only; the exact rules are set out in the texts of the regulations.

Cancellation, long delay, denied boarding (Regulation (EC) No 261/2004)

  • Right to information: the airline must inform passengers of their rights in writing.
  • Right to care: meals and refreshments in reasonable relation to the waiting time and, where necessary, hotel accommodation and transport between the hotel and the airport.
  • Reimbursement or re-routing: in the event of cancellation or denied boarding, reimbursement of the ticket price or re-routing to the final destination.
  • Compensation: in the cases and distance bands defined by the regulation, fixed compensation is due, unless the cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided.

Disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006)

  • Carriage may not be refused on the grounds of disability or reduced mobility, except for the safety reasons laid down by law.
  • Assistance at the airport and on board is free of charge; it is advisable to notify your needs at least 48 hours before departure.

Where to turn

Please address your complaint to the airline first: base@baseairlines.hu, +36 1 287 8546. If the complaint is not resolved, passengers may turn to the national enforcement body responsible for the regulations; the current list and contact details of these bodies are available on the European Commission’s Your Europe website.
